Chris Pureka’s<\/strong> 3rd studio album, How I Learned to See in the Dark<\/em>, is a bit of a departure from her previous albums. It’s more mysterious and emotional. Although all her songs tend to be a bit melancholy, this album is even darker and yet more beautiful. Longtime friend Merill Garbus of tUne-YaRds co-produced the album and Pureka continues to be the shining example of an independent artist, creating and releasing her own music. Tonight she played to a packed Brooklyn crowd and stuck to her more slower & quieter songs. With a broader musical repertoire now she should try to make her set list more dynamic.
